HEALTH BENEFIT OF GARRI
In Nigeria, Garri is the most staple food and is most commonly eaten not just in Nigeria but in most of West Africa. It is the food of the common man and it is the kind that is both locally produced and consumed in the country.
Garri is a grain like food substance that has been dried and processed from starchy plants called cassava. It is a rich source of carbohydrate which is helpful to hard working people in Africa as it is a very cheap and indigenous source of energy. Unlike rice which is mostly eaten occasionally due to it's price and availability, garri can be produced from local plants and consumed by families most of who engage in subsistence farming.
In Nigeria, Cassava is used to produce two popular food types called Garri and Akpu. Akpu is a white substance that has been prepared from Cassava after allowing for fermentation and later boiled for eating with soup. Garri on the other hand after soaking and fermentation is grounded, fried and dried for storage purposes.
Garri can be yellow or white depending on what type of oil was used to fry it. Yellow garri contains more nutrients than white garri since it is fried with palm oil which contains vitamins like A and C.
The benefit of eating garri is immeasurable. Garri has a high fiber content that help facilitate digestion and improve proper bowel movement. It is effective against Irritable Bowel Syndrome and can also help reduce the risk of colonic cancer. In view of this, garri's bulk of fiber can be seen as an internal cleaning agent as it help clear out fecal impaction of your intestinal walls, thereby increasing your nutrient absorption rate. Do you know research has shown that most diseases have their root traced to an unhealthy intestinal tract, caused by high intake of low fiber food like white-flour based diets? This is where garri can become of immense benefit.
And again, there is no disputing its energy content. Garri contains starch, and by extension serves as a veritable source of energy needed by man for his sustenance.
Garri dey blind eye? I never see person wey go blind as a result of soaking garri. But the truth is that, eating too much of everything will take it toll on your body. If you abuse a good thing like Garri, it will turn out bad for you.

Lawyer sues Israel for ‘killing’ Jesus
THIS is admittedly some old news, but it just came to our attention recently.
As it happens, a Kenyan lawyer – Dola Indidis – is suing Israel (among other entities, including the state of Italy, King Herod and Emperor Tiberius – as well as the very vague ones “Jewish teachers of law” and “Jewish elders”) for the death of Jesus Christ.
His aim is to bring those responsible to justice. An admirable aim, no doubt.
That a case is closed for 2 000 years is no reason not to take it seriously. More so, if we consider that this particular case has such significance to a large amount of people across the globe; and that Jesus’ views have had and still have such an impact on the way we act, the laws we have, etc.
But here is the interesting part – and what makes this supposed “case” particularly problematic.
There was no state of Israel at the time, nor one of Italy. King Herod had little to do with Jesus directly – he died in 4BCE, before Jesus was even born; and though there is mention of him being afraid of a new usurper, there is at least 30 years difference between Jesus’ crucifixion and King Herod’s death.
Which leaves us with Emperor Tiberius – who did announce some seemingly cruel measures, but again had no direct relation to Jesus. He is mentioned in the Bible only once – one would think more mention of him would follow if he was responsible of Jesus’ death.
It is no surprise then that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is most likely to ignore this case altogether. According to Legal Cheek: “The ICJ has no jurisdiction for such a case. The ICJ settles disputes between states. It is not even theoretically possible for us to consider this case.”
What leaves a particularly nasty smell with this case is the inherent paradoxical nature of it. Say, Indidis manages ICJ to consider the case, and by some miracle he also wins it. Then what?
Usually in such situations some sort of retribution is required, in form of compensation (financial or otherwise), a penal sentence, or worse.
And if Indidis in some miraculous way does manage to win the case, who is this compensation going to?
Joseph and Mary are long dead, their next of kin is unknown (Jesus did supposedly have four brothers and two sisters).
We could speculate that God himself would receive the compensation, but within religious dogma he has already exercised his vengeance by sending the responsible to Hell. (I presume, God works in mysterious ways after all.)
Even if we forget the legal matters, there is another problem. After all, recently numerous attempts have been made to retry Socrates. He has been found both guilty and not-guilty, depending on the judges, and the process seems to have absolutely no effect on one simple matter: Socrates remains dead and nobody really understands why we should care about this.
Now, you may retort that Socrates is no Jesus, and that is true. But consider this: say Indidis wins the case, and we find that Jesus was wrongfully put to death, then what? Will it change our beliefs? Will it make us feel better for more than a few minutes? Will we celebrate and make more effort into making the world a better place?
The point is exactly that regardless of the wrongs or determinism regarding Jesus’ death, there is practically no effect on our conduct. We may have the religious belief that Jesus’ death was predetermined by God (and Jesus knew about it also); we may equally believe that whether that is so or not, a human being (at the time) has been put to death unjustly – all these beliefs have certain justification. But here I ask: so what?
If you are interested, here is the submission to ICJ from Kenyan High Court.
An interesting point to be made here is that news agencies in general speak of Israel (and occasionally Italy) primarily.
This is somewhat puzzling, as it brings out a double implication of anti-Semitism. On the one hand, it makes it seem as if this Kenyan lawyer is concerned with Jews in particular – his suing of Israel is meant to punish the Jews in general for the killing of Jesus (incidentally also a Jew).
Yet, on the other hand, it reinforces the idea that Jews are indeed to be blamed by only mentioning Israel – whereas the lawyer is concerned with “all” parties included.
Put differently, a paradoxical relation is established: we mock the lawyer for his alleged anti-Semitism by bringing Israel as the focal point of his allegations; yet we implicitly also state that Israel is the sole defendant in the case (which it is clearly not), thereby being anti-Semites ourselves.
Sure, we could argue that this makes for good news, but is this not also what recreates a false belief in responsibilities of the past generations? The problem, it seems, is the use of history where the consequences for life are nil. — Zambian Observer.

TTT Betrayed Me, I Would’ve Shared the N25m with Him If I Had Won – #BBNaija’s Bisola
The first runner-up of the just concluded Big Brother Naija, Bisola, has talked on her romance with fellow house-mate, Thin Tall Tony, and revealed how she felt after she was betrayed by him.
While speaking in an exclusive interview with The Sun newspaper, the 31-year-old single mother-of-one, Bisola Aiyeola, who is the first runner-up at the just concluded Big Brother Naija, opened up on her experience in the BBN House, his romance with popular house-mate, and many more.
Here are excerpt from the chat;
Is this the first time you would be auditioning for Big Brother?
My Big Brother journey started nine years ago. I have been applying and going for the auditions. Whenever I watched it on TV, I would be like ‘when will it be my turn?’ And it happened this year, I thank God!
What was the relationship between you, Tony and Efe. We noticed that you guys formed a clique?
For me, it wasn’t strategy. In life, you can’t be friends with everybody; it’s a normal thing. I would never have guessed that I would be close to Marvis. People I saw as friends at the beginning were Efe and Tony. I met them and I loved them, and then, Marvis came into the picture and she was such an amazing and crazy girl. I don’t know, it was a mutual feeling. I won’t say it was one-sided.
What attracted you to Thin Tall Tony?
Tony was the oldest in the house, so I saw him as a mature person and very creative. I learnt a lot from him. At the same time like I said, I went to the House to have fun. My daughter, my mum, my sister and everyone close to me can tell how playful I am. I love to tickle and tease. I love to jump on people, bite and all that. Back in the House, it was only Tony that welcomed that because he is energetic. I didn't know he was married. If I had known, ha! Somebody’s husband? I beg o, me I no dey do that kind of thing o. And there were times I asked him questions like ‘hope I am not getting on your nerves?’ and he would say ‘no, no’ and it was fine for me. We were living in a house where there was no television, no Internet, no social media and your family was not there. So, you have to make people around you your entertainment. Yeah, that was it with TTT.
Do you think he likes you romantically?
No, I wouldn't call it romantic, because I could remember he told me it was Tboss he was crushing on, and I was cool with that. But for me, I think if me and someone are friends and he told me that he likes someone else, that shouldn’t stop our friendship. You do your thing while I do mine; that shouldn't hinder the friendship for anything. TTT is still my friend not matter what.
When he moved over to Tboss, did you retaliate with Bally?
No oh! There was no retaliation with Bally. When Tony left the House, there was nobody to torment again. So, I went for Bally. I was like ‘Hello Bally!!! You are next’ (laughter). That was it for me and whenever I jumped on him, I was like, ‘you know what, you gonna suffer boy’. So, that was it for me.
Did you suspect at anytime that Tony might be married or in a relationship with kids?
Not at all! No! That’s why I said he is a good actor. He acted his script to the best of his ability, but I feel he should have told me because it is such a big deal. That was what I felt. I was misled. And I would have shared if I won oh!

#BBNaija: Debbie-Rise, TBoss and Marvis Reaction To TTT Being Married!
Big Brother Naija house-mates, Debie-Rise, TBoss and Marvis, who were interviewed by Pulseng, have disclosed what first came to their mind, after learning that Thin Tall Tony is married with kids.
Recall that before now, TBoss told Bisola that she suspects that Thin Tall Tony might be married, though she had no proof then.
“I didn’t believe it. There were people that speculated. I didn’t believe it,” a surprised Marvis said.
TBoss, who had mentioned it severally during their stay in the house said, “I knew it, I
knew it, I knew it. He put up a very good show, but, sometimes, that Papa thing will just come out. I just knew, this guy is married. He was just too fatherly sometimes.”

Debie-Rise expressed her shock saying, “I will say that I’m surprised that he didn’t mention it. But, at the same time, I know that he is a very good actor, so it isn’t surprising.”
TTT who was romantically involved with Bisola, failed to mention his marital status to her. During one of their conversations, he described himself as ‘single by God’s grace.'

Candle Night Speech
Long life and prosperity is a prayer request said by humanity to its Almighty Creator.
But what is wealth without life? What is love without life? Why do we hop;e for a good tomorrow? Why do we dream and hustle for of a better tomorrow when life ain't assured? This questions keep;s coming into my head every now and then.
Life is amazing! Life is unique! Life is sweet! And I bet this generation of ours will want to cling unto it forever and hop;e it never ends. And oh, yes, life doesn't end after death, for there is life after death. What we make of the life we live now, is what God prepares for us after life. Is it eternity in heaven or eternal doom? Your choice to make. Clinging unto God's task for humanity ain't easy. But like they say: "Sorrow may come in the night but joy comes in the morning!"
It's with faith that we live and it's with faith that we die, dying and hoping to make rest in heaven. A friend once asked me? "What is the essence of struggling to be successful? Why push hard to get wealth in order to bless our family and friends? Why do we endeavor to be good when at the end, one sin could lead to eternal doom?" And he concluded saying "I better flex on, stay bad and enjoy myself cause at the end it might just turn out bad."
My response to you friend is this: "Choose God today and serve Him wholeheartedly. Do your best and leave the rest to the Almighty Creator."
Finally, in the lyrics of Alicia Keys of the song We Are Here, I hope we find peace and love for every humanity here and out there. We are here for all of us, and why we are here mourning we should always p;ray for the innocents cause it doesn't make sense that they die for no justified reason. King Chijioke wanted to shine but he was robbed of his life. So tell me how do we succeed when even our closet ones plan our downfall? My advice to everyone here tonight is to learn that p;art were our heart connects together. Lets talk about living cause I definitely have had enough of young people dying, just too young. Its not what we all about. And also let us learn to do more giving, also do more forgiving cause our souls are brought together so that we can love each one another. My brothers, my sisters, learn to be supportive. And I p;ray the deceased family find it easy to endure and that Christ will be the unshakable pillar of the family through Christ our Lord - Amen! Thanks to every one who made today a success. God bless you all! And a big thank you to everyone here in attendance; strength and guidance I p;ray you get through Christ our Lord - Amen
King Chijioke, may your ever vibrant, unique, super duper, never dulling, extrovert, supportive, caring and loving soul rest in perfect peace. Brother, we miss you like never before. Rest well!

GONE TOO SOON!
When our loved ones leave us forever, it is a heartbreaking moment. Though we know that they will never come back, we wish that they were still with us. While death cannot be overcome, what we can do is wish the people who left a peaceful afterlife. However, we are sometimes so shaken by the sad events that it is hard to gather up our voice and say what we feel.
God has now a precious and loving friend, the one we have lost. Your company will even regale angels of death and make them smile. Why is it that you have to go, why is life so cruel? I wish you could stay with us forever. There is nothing that is invincible for a soul as spirited as you… yet you bowed down to death to honour God and his will. Rest in peace. #YouDeyWhyneMe was your slogan. #TeamPush
